The Department of Psychology is one of the oldest departments in the College of Social Science and the Humanities in the University of Gondar. Since it was launched in 2004, the department has been producing efficient and competent under graduates and post graduates working in different areas of social life-both in private and governmental institutions. Currently, the department is offering Psychology and research courses in its undergraduate and postgraduate programs for both regular and continuing programs.
As part of the requirements of producing trained and skilled human power in the Ethiopia, the department launched MA programs in clinical (first in Ethiopia) and social Psychology in 2011.Currently, the department of Psychology is working hard to launch MA programs in Measurement and Evaluation psychology, Developmental Psychology, and Counseling psychology. Furthermore, the department is working towards launching PhD in clinical psychology and social psychology in the near future.
The mission is to provide quality education thereby to produce qualified professionals both at national and international levels and who are oriented towards job creation and be able to employ innovative problem solving research works for society and implement the research outcomes to deal with societal challenges.
