MA in Development Anthropology

Applications are welcome from individuals with BA degree in Social Anthropology seeking to extend their specialization, and people with other degrees such as Sociology, Social Work, Development Studies, and other social sciences who would like to engage in Social Anthropology careers. The applicants should submit copies of the undergraduate degree and official transcript while applying to the program. These academic documents should be authenticated by recognized universities. The applicants will be required to sit for an entrance examination. The applicants’ undergraduate or post-graduate Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) shall also be considered as a condition for approval of candidacy.

Applicants must meet the general admission requirements of the University of Gondar. In addition, two letters of recommendation, one from an academic advisor or previous professor who can provide testimony of the applicant’s ability to do academic work, and one from a supervisor in a recent professional or volunteer setting, are required. Two pages of synopsis or concept papers, which reflect the research plan of the applicant, shall also be used as a requirement for the approval of candidacy. Decisions on admissions are made in good faith on the basis of the quality and authenticity of the documents provided and the presumed competence of the applicants.
